Lunch Time

Posted on 08:06 by chsndrapaul
Around here, I'm usually sharing recipes we love and projects I'm working on. However, today, I'm going to share about our lunch times.

You see, sometimes I struggle with the fact that I am ALWAYS in my kitchen. It starts at breakfast... preparing, feeding, wiping, cleaning. Then snack time. Preparing, feeding, wiping, cleaning. Then, what feels like just a few minutes later, it's lunch time. Then that cycle happens all over again. I try to quickly get through lunch before the occasional afternoon snack and then the grand finale.... dinner.

I can tell you almost every lunch consistently has me saying things like,
"Please sit on your bottom."
"Use two hands please."
"We are not doggies. Don't lick the table."
"Are you sure you need BOTH mayo and mustard on your sandwich?"

I tell you all these details not to seem discontent with our eating schedule, or discontent with life as a Mom AT ALL. I feel blessed every single day that I am home with my kids. And I realize the privilege and HUGE responsibility that comes with being a Mommy.

Yesterday, as I hurried though the normal lunch prep and was about to sit down across from my boys, I realized that in 5 short years,
 I will be sitting down to eat lunch all by myself.
That, dear readers, made this Momma's heart sad. I love seeing my kids grow, but at the same time, I hate it.

So as of today, I'm slowing down lunch.
So much happens at lunch, I can't afford to miss a thing. You see, the quietness, while chewing food, allows 4-year-old curious minds to come up will all kinds of good questions.
"Did the doctor use a machine to get the baby out of your tummy?"
"No one is supposed to see my panties, right?"
"What letter is this?" (As he air-draws a letter.)
Some questions can't even get verbalized because his mind is going faster than his mouth can keep up.

Lunch time is also my favorite time to go over Bible verses and songs. I love how amazing it is to Graham every time I know a Bible verse or song he learned in Church. "You know that one too?!?!"

Yesterday, I was reminded.....
It's okay to stand the whole lunch. Because every Mom knows, as soon as your bottom hits the chair, you are sure to hear a question like,
"Can I have more juice?" or "I need a map-kin." (I bet in 5 years, I'll gain some weight from all of the sitting.)

I realized it's okay to eat cold grilled cheese.

I realized it's okay to change a poopie diaper half way through eating. (It helps me skip that chocolate bar after lunch.)

I realized it's okay to hear the question, "Mommy, you are still eating lunch?" (10 minutes after all the kids have left the table.)

So from now on, I'm going to make sure the mayo and mustard are evenly spread on the bread and I'll shovel in the squash a little slower. Because in five years, those hungry little faces will be sitting across from someone else.

And I'm certainly going to enjoy wiping up all of the crumbs.
Crumbs mean that I spent lunch time with some very important people.

Favorites of 2013

Posted on 19:37 by chsndrapaul
These are a few of my favorite (2013) things....

1. BARE MINERALS Prime Time Foundation Primer
You won't believe how soft your skin will be in the matter of seconds.
Your face will feel like satin. Try it. (I promise you'll love it.)

2. Sephora Instant Moisturizer
A great everyday, light, moisturizer. It works great and my favorite thing about it, the smell. Fresh and clean. (I can't stand stinky moisturizer.)

3. Stella by STELLA MCCARTNEY
My favorite smell. And it comes in a gorgeous bottle.
There's something so feminine about perfume. (And lipstick!)

4. Sandra Boynton Board Books
I have purchased these books in the past and they are well loved....

I added to our little collection this year by purchasing several more books. So cute! Rhyming stories that all of my kids love reading! Snuggle Puppy is an old favorite. The Going To Bed Book is a new favorite.
I have a soft spot for buying my kids books.... they are catching on to this.
(Maybe bookshelves will be on my Favorites of 2014 List!)

5. He definitely doesn't come in 5th place, but my MOST favorite thing of 2013 is this guy.
I can't tell you how many kisses I give him everyday. (I'm addicted.)

(These reviews are my opinions on products I purchased and used in 2013 without financial compensation.)

8 Months!

Posted on 20:29 by chsndrapaul
8 months ago-
Seems like yesterday....

To celebrate, I decided to take some last Christmas pictures of Tagg with our tree.
(Yes, we are those people… we like to savor Christmas as long as possible!)
For photo ideas, of course, I turned to Pinterest and found Meg at Snap Happy Mom and I love her!

I changed my camera settings exactly like she said to get the bokeh look of my Christmas tree.
You can read all of her tips {here}.

Too focused…..                   too unfocused….

Perfectly blurred lights!

Then a brilliant tip Meg shared: Practice taking pictures on a stuffed animal so your kids don't have to sit while you get your lighting right.
Tagg was interested in what I was doing with his toy….

And when I was setting up the Christmas lights…. he was just too curious!

Happy 8 months Baby Tagg!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from today….

I saved my favorite for last. I love everything about this photo….
his 'ready, set, go' position,
his curled fingers,
his pudgy feet,
the way the hat is pushing his ears down,
and how his whole face lights up with his little smile.

I just can't get enough of this little buddy.
So thankful for the last 8 months!

Happy 4 Months Tagg

Posted on 07:37 by chsndrapaul
Yesterday marked 4 months of having our new baby Tagg.
{may 10, 2013}

I cannot tell you enough what a fun, sweet, cuddly baby he is!
{may 25}

If you're like me, every time we add another child to the family, you wonder how the family dynamic and your schedules will change.
{july 28}

Sure, adding a third has definitely made life busier, but Tagg is the PERFECT baby for us.
If I was given the ability to design my own children, I am certain, 100%, that I would not be able to design them more perfect!
(Everything from that intoxicating baby head smell down to his clammy little tootsies!)

{june 17}

Everyday I marvel at God's grace. His love overwhelms me and I am so thankful for this little bundle of joy....
{may 20}

THE FIRST MONTH:

We just love those sweet cheeks.
{may 24}

Lots of naps. Adjusting to a new baby in the house is tiring!
{may 31}

Lots of snuggles. Tagg gets the award for my 'most snugly baby'.
{june 2}

HAPPY ONE MONTH:

Proud BIG Sister!
{june 13}

{june 20}

First long trip in the car. He was an angel, of course, and loved to stretch when we stopped to get him out of his car seat.
{july 7}

HAPPY TWO MONTHS:

Every mom dreads the two month doctor visit...
Tagg cried. Reese cried. Mommy cried.
{july 15}

First diaper change from Big Sis!
{july 17}

LOVES to be wrapped tight for naps.
{july 24}

Such a happy boy in the bath!
There's just something about how a baby smells fresh out of the bath.
{july 25}

HAPPY THREE MONTHS:

It's a rough life y'all!

Continuing his nighttime ritual of falling asleep on Daddy....
{august 14}

Reese is off to school. We sure do miss her smile around here during the day!
{august 18}

He loves his play mat and toys and I love his peacock hair!
{august 19}

I have a couple of couch potatoes on my hands thanks to Disney Junior!
{august 20}

I got to use my Moby Wrap several times and we both love it. Worth the investment- just remember, practice makes you better!
{august 22}

First cereal...not a fan.
{august 25}

Bath time, on the other hand, is still a thrill.
Can't you just hear the scream through the picture???
{september 4}

Not sure how I deserve these three....
{september 6}

Baby Dedication Sunday....
{september 7}

HAPPY FOUR MONTHS TAGG!
{we can't wait to see what this month holds!}
